Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

LearnFork uses a BYOK model — you provide your own API keys from the AI provider of your choice. Your keys are stored in your browser's localStorage and are sent directly from your browser to the provider. LearnFork never sees, stores, or proxies your keys.

Adding an API key

There are two ways to add a key:

• From the prompt — when you try to send a message without a configured provider, the API key modal appears automatically
• From Settings — click the gear icon on the home page, then add/change keys in the AI Provider section

Switching providers and models

In the Settings page, you can switch between any configured provider. Each provider has a default model, but you can select from a list of available models or type a custom model ID.

The active provider and model are used for all new messages across all conversations.

Provider limits (Free)

Free users can configure up to 2 AI providers. Pro users can use all 7. If you've already configured 2 providers, adding a third will prompt you to upgrade.
